This week you’re in Isaiah, twelve chapters of warning, mercy, and some of the clearest promises of the Savior in the whole Old Testament. It can feel like a lot. You don’t have to take in all of it. As you read, find one verse that gives you hope, and bring it with you to Sunday.
Read
Read what you can in Isaiah this week. Among the warnings are some of God’s biggest promises. Watch for the one you most need to hear, and mark it.
Read straight through once without stopping to analyze, then go back for the verse that stands out.
Why: A first pass for the whole shape of the text, then a second pass for detail, keeps you from getting lost in the first few verses.
Or listen to an audio version while you follow along in the text.
Why: Hearing the words while you follow along adds a spoken layer to the written one, which can help the reading stick, especially if you learn well by ear.
Or read it aloud to yourself
Why: Saying words out loud activates both your speech and your hearing, sometimes called the production effect, and text you say tends to be remembered better than text you only see.
