Lesson Plan A · Covenant Frame · Isaiah 50-57

Hook

  • The Lord is comforting people who feel abandoned, and he makes them a promise by comparing it to something we all assume is permanent. He says even the mountains will go before this thing does. What do you think could possibly be steadier than a mountain?

Anchor

  • “For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee” (Isaiah 54:10).

  • “Will you read Isaiah 54:7–10? The Lord admits to a short season of distance, then makes a promise that outlasts the mountains. What is the one thing he says will never be removed?”
