The heart of biblical faith is revelation, not speculation. In the Ancient Near East (ANE), theology was never abstract reasoning about divine essence but recognition of divine acts in history. The LORD God (YHWH Elohim) revealed Himself through covenant, deliverance, and word. The prophets and psalmists did not “theorize” God; they remembered Him. Israel’s great theological command was not “understand” but “hear”: “Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one” (Deuteronomy 6:4).
