To be vulnerable is to be woundable. The word traces back to the Latin vulnus, meaning wound. When we make ourselves vulnerable, we step into a position where another person can affect us deeply. Love, trust, friendship, and covenant all require this kind of exposure. How do we stay in relationship, where wounds happen, without being destroyed?
